Pete Davidson is taking on the challenge of all challenges - he will be leading the all-star version of the Christmas classic, It's A Wonderful Life.

However, many classic film enthusiasts are unimpressed with not only Pete's role, but the casting for the entire remake.

                                  Here's what we know...

Evidently, Pete is looking to broaden his horizons in the world of acting.

The tatted-up Saturday Night Live star was announced today as the latest actor to take on the role of George Bailey.

Of course, it's a casting move that's sure to ruffle many Christmassy feathers.

Because let's be real, Pete doesn't exactly give off a "festive guardian angel" vibe, does he?

As you will know, the role of George Bailey was made famous by Jimmy Stewart's portrayal in Frank Carpa's 1946 version of It's A Wonderful Life.

The movie followed a young George Bailey who, overwhelmed by family obligations and a job he never had an interest in working, starts to see his youth, dreams, and opportunities pass him by.

George is broken and suicidal over financial burdens...

And, on Christmas Eve, he is met by his guardian angel, Clarence, as he contemplates taking his own life.

In a bid to change George's outlook, Clarence shows him how his town, family, and friends would have turned out if he had never been born...

Thus emphasizing how much he is cared about by so many different people.

Over the years, the movie has been firmly cemented as a Christmas classic...

So, of course, filmmakers far and wide have avoided going anywhere near it in terms of remakes.

                                  Well, until now, they have.

As stated earlier, a 2020 reboot of It's A Wonderful Life has been given the go-ahead, and Pete Davidson is confirmed to be the new George Bailey.

Of course, this casting move has caused a whole lot of controversy...

And fans of the movie are not impressed.

As for the rest of the star-studded cast?

Pete will?be joined by his King of Staten Island co-star, Maude Apatow, who is set to portray the character of Violet Bic.

The rest of the cast features the likes of:

Mia Farrow, Ellie Kemper, Bill Pullman, Richard Kind, Carol Kane, Ed Begley Jr., Diedrich Bader, B.D. Wong, Michael Shannon, “and special surprise guests."

Okay, at this point, it might be worth mentioning that it isn't an actual movie remake.

No, this will simply be a virtual table-reading of the film, which will benefit the Ed Asner Family Center, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting mental health and enrichment programs for special needs children and their families.

Matthew Asner, the co-founder of the Ed Asner Family Center, said in a statement:

“We are so thrilled to have Pete reenact the role of George in It’s a Wonderful Life?with his talented wit and clever vocalizations. And we look forward to having Maude join the cast as Violet with her creative flair."

                                  He continued:

“Please join us for this once in a lifetime opportunity to snuggle up on your couch and experience this all-star cast virtual table read from the comfort of your own home... It will be a very meaningful night!"
