Because it concerns something many feel they've been waiting a long time for...

                                  Over?fifteen?years, to be precise.

And we can pretty much guarantee it's going to be a smash hit...

We know we'll be tuning in - but will you?

A sequel to?The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl?is coming.

Yep, that's right, it's officially time to reignite our childhoods!

The 2005 original was a total classic.

It was the heartwarming tale of one boy saving the planet, along with his superhero friends, of course.

For fifteen years, we've had just the one movie to enjoy.

Well, that was before director Robert Rodriguez dropped an unbelievably exciting announcement.

Our beloved Sharkboy and Lavagirl are coming back!

In a new sequel set fifteen years after?the original movie.

Yep, Sharkboy and Lavagirl will be all grown up...

So grown-up, in fact, that they've become parents!

And of course, their offspring are anything but ordinary...

                                  Their daughter has inherited?both?shark?and?lava powers.

In fact, she's not the only superhero offspring set to be featured.

The new series is called? We Can Be Heroes,?and centers on the offspring of many different super-parents.

Eleven children will be featured on the show...

And reportedly, it revolves around these kids trying to save the world after their parents are captured by an evil force.

Rodriguez has described the new series as being "like an Avengers team."

"Except they all had kids," he joked to a Comic-Con panel.

He's returning to what he loves best...

"My most rabid fanbase all these years, by far, has been my kid films."

                                  "My Spy Kids audience."

"These kids watch those movies over and over because they're action films made for children and families, in particular at a time when they need empowerment."

"Netflix came to me because the Spy Kids movies had done just so well on their service."

"They said, 'Could you make a series of films that do that?' And I said, 'I'd love to!'"

And now, it's been confirmed the release date will be New Year's Day!

Netflix has even dropped the first look at what we can expect the characters to look like.

As we all know, Taylor Lautner and Taylor Dooley played Sharkboy and Lavagirl in the original...

And amazingly, Dooley, who is now twenty-seven-years-old, is returning to play the adult Lavagirl. And while we're not getting Taylor Lautner, we can expect to see JJ Dashnaw (who played Brat's dad in Rodriguez's Spy Kids) take on the role of Sharkboy.

Their daughter, Guppy, as seen in the photos, is half-human and half-shark.

“A lot of families have spent a lot of time together," Rodriguez said, talking about the pandemic. “I’ve been getting calls from all kinds of studios: ‘Reboot Spy Kids.’ ‘Reboot Sharkboy.’ Of course, they want to. They’re all sitting at home with their kids." It makes a lot of sense.

We Can Be Heroes follows a team of superheroes called The Heroics who need their kids to save them.

Pedro Pascal, Christian Slater, and Boyd Holbrook are all part of The Heroics; while the kid heroes include YaYa Gosselin as Missy, Isaiah Russell-Bailey as Rewind, Akira Akbar as Fast Forward, Hala Finley as Ojo, and Dylan Henry Lau as Slo-Mo.

                                  The cast also stars...

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christopher McDonald, Adriana Barraza, Lyon Daniels, Nathan Blair, Lotus Blossom, Andy Walken, Andrew Diaz, Sung Kang, Haley Reinhart, J. Quinton Johnson, Brittany Perry-Russell, and Brently Heilbron. It's quite the cast!

We can't wait to hear more about the upcoming movie!

Keep scrolling for more of the latest news surrounding the streaming giant...
