The actor has forged a very successful career for himself over the years... including a die-hard fan base.

Will is best known for his roles in comedy-action movies...

Including in Bad Boys (1995) and Men in Black (1997).

He has also had his fair share of more serious roles...

Such as portraying heavy-weight boxer Mohemmed Ali in the biopic, Ali (2001), and starring in The Pursuit of Happiness (2006) alongside his son, Jaden.

Who hasn't watched I Am Legend?

Now, let's not get started on that scene with his dog...

Will is never far away from our screens...

And it's safe to say that fans have grown to absolutely love the actor over the years.

But we all know what it was that plunged the actor into the spotlight...

And that is, of course, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The Fresh Prince launched in 1990...

And it followed the journey of a streetwise and poor young man from Philadelphia who is sent by his mother to live with his aunt, uncle, and cousins in their Bel-Air mansion.

We all know Will Smith's catchy rap that opens the show...

Which is what actually helped boost Will's music career!

The show is a 1990's dream...

And fans were quick to fall in love with all of the hilarious characters.

Even though Will took center stage...

The rest of the cast were never overlooked. For instance, James Avery was terrific as the imposing Uncle Phil. Patriarch of the Banks clan, Philip gradually evolved from Will's scowling nemesis into a more gentle giant as the show went on.

Then there was the no-nonsense Aunt Viv...

She was played first by Janet Hubert-Whitten and then by Daphne Maxwell Reid from season 4 onwards.

And of course, we could never forget Carlton.

Alfonso Ribeiro was perfect as Will's arrogant yet loveable cousin that he became forever typecast and the "Carlton Dance" - usually performed to Tom Jones's 1965 hit "It's Not Unusual" - has become an iconic piece of TV comedy.

The sitcom is now considered a classic...

And ever since the last episode in 1996, the show continues to be more popular than ever.

A reunion of The Fresh Prince has been discussed over the years...

But these hopeful rumors had been constantly shut down by former cast members.

Many of us fans had accepted this fate.

But now, it's time to get excited...

If you cast your mind back to 2019...

You may be aware that a trailer for a so-called dramatic reboot of the hit show went viral on YouTube. A Fresh Prince super-fan created and directed the clip that reimagined the series as if it were a drama (don't worry, we've got the clip coming right up).

This caused rumors that Will Smith and Morgan Cooper were teaming up to adapt the viral trailer into a series.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter?that the reboot has been in the works for more than a year after the 4-minute clip went viral.

And then there was a tease shared by Will Smith...

"Today is exactly thirty YEARS since The @FreshPrince of Bel-Air debuted."

                                  "So we’re doin’ something for y’all… "

"A?for real Banks Family Reunion is comin’ soon to?@HBOmax! RIP James."

                                  And it aired today!

In the HBO Max special, the stars reminisce about the comedy with each other.

Though sadly, there is one key person missing from the line-up.

The late James Avery, who played Uncle Phil.

Fans were unsure if the original Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert, would be joining the group after rumored bad blood with Will Smith ...

                                  But amazingly so, she is!

Both Aunt Viv's, Daphne Maxwell Reid, and Janet Hubert are involved in the reunion.

Will Smith shared the news on Instagram writing "Two queens, one throne, all love! #FreshPrinceReunion tonight on @hbomax :-)"

The actor added a video of Daphne Maxwell Reid walking into the living room...

And as she sits down in an armchair, she morphs into original Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert. Best. News. Ever.

But before the upcoming special, Janet Hubert has opened up to Will Smith about their falling out.

"At first, we were all just one big happy family," Smith said in an exclusive Red Table Talk episode.

"But as time went on, our relationship soured and I handled it poorly."

"He was young, he was out of control in his own way, he had all this power," Hubert agreed.

"There was a need for me to have professionalism on the set, because I was used to it, especially as a dancer."

"I wasn't perceptive and, ultimately, I wasn't kind," Smith admitted.

"I would sit in my car some nights and not want to go anywhere," Hubert went on.

"I didn't want to go home, I didn't want to go to work."

"The misconception of me was that I was haughty, difficult, wanted to be the star of the show."

"As the oldest woman on that set, there's that respect level that I just needed to have of being an older woman, a Black woman."

"I had been banished and they said it was you who banished me, because I didn't laugh at your jokes."

"Then they ordered me to stay in my room, I couldn't come out on the stage," she went on. "And I wasn't unprofessional on the set, I just stopped talking to everybody. How do you survive with a mortgage, a new business, a new baby, and a husband who wasn't working at the time?"

"How do you survive? So much of what you said destroyed everywhere we went. It beat me up. I lost my house. I lost everything."

"But you're the big star, I'm just a little Black b****."

Will was floored by her candid admission.

"It's not who I want to be and it's not how I want to make people feel."

"I needed mommy [Janet] to think I was great and once I realized that she didn't, my dragon woke up."

The emotional video ended with the two seeming at peace with the past and looking to the future. Want more controversy from the infamous Red Table? Scroll on ...
